hi guys
I have a few old projects (like this one, nothing special, but notes it uses a XC9572XL-PLCC) pending for components and I'd like to play with PLCC package.

XC9500 is dead and for new project you'd better go to XC9500XL but, since it's for hobby, I'd like to have both if possible.

The datasheet reports that new XL are Pin-compatible with 5V-core, e.g. the XC9572 device in the 44-pin PLCC package has the same pinout as the XC9572XL

This, because I need to design the components on gEDA as well as on EagleCAD ("Xilinx.lib" doesn't happen to have a lot of CPLD components :palm: )

Main differences between XC9500 and XC9500XL
  • on XL, the voltage for internal logic and input buffers is 3.3V, instead of 5V, but on the same pin
  • on XL, the supply voltage for output drivers is 3.3V, instead of 5V, but on the same pin
  • on XL, the high-level input voltage on user-pins can accept 5V
  • For XILINX, XL is still supported, XC9500 is dead
  • XL is more optimized and efficient

I can't find XC9500XL chips in PLCC package, Farnel and RS offer only the smd version.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking for

  • XC9536XL, and old XC9536 (if possible), 44-Pin PLCC
  • XC9572XL, and old XC9572 (if possible), 44-Pin PLCC
  • XC95108XL, and old XC95108 (if possible), 84-Pin PLCC

Contact me in private if you happen to have some chip for sale.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks  :D

I found mine on eBay and AliExpress.

I'd like to avoid those places, especially AliExpress: in my experiences it was very bad.
I prefer to buy from people here on the forum, or from a respectable seller in Europe.

If you give some idea how many you need and what you are willing to pay I'll go and look to see how many I still have. I bought quite a few XC95108 5V 84pin  PLCC many years ago via Digikey. I think they have the industrial? temperature range. They are still in the Digikey packaging. I've probably still got 10 or 20 of them new/unused never left the original packaging.

Tried to send you a PM to discuss things, but I got an error message

It seems your PM box is blocked  :-//

I bought quite a few XC95108 5V 84pin  PLCC many years ago via Digikey.

Me, too, via Digikey. It was 2008 :D

I think they have the industrial? temperature range.

Excellent!

They are still in the Digikey packaging. I've probably still got 10 or 20 of them new/unused never left the original packaging.

So, you only have the XC95108 5V chip.
No so bad. It's good :)

If you give some idea how many you need and what you are willing to pay I'll go and look to see how many I still have.

Ah, say for a minimal qty of 5 chips, what is your offer?

p.s.
if you make me a good price, I would also consider to buy 10 chips.
I believe 10 is the maximum amount of chips I need with a conservative policy for future projects. Actually I need four chips for four different projects, this 5 is enough, but I have a few ideas pending in my mind.

p.s.2
if you prefer a "swap", I can give you one/two working ARM-linux boards designed with ARIA-G25.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think we are going to work something out here. The chips I have here are genuine industrial temperature rated parts bought in November 2005. The Digikey number is 122-1246ND as per the picture below. These were expensive parts and are very rare nowadays...

https://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detail/en/xilinx-inc/XC95108-15PC84I/122-1246-ND/406845

If you just want hobby parts to play with then try ebay. These are probably clones but may be OK for what you want?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XC95108-7PC84C-Manu-XILINX-Encapsulation-PLCC-84-/321164876323?hash=item4ac6eb1a23:g:zRcAAOxyXDhSjPRu

They are a lot cheaper than what I am expecting for the ones I have here. I found one tube with 10 left in it and I think I have more tubes somewhere. See the image below.

Beware of fake Xilinx 9536 on Aliexpress and others,  we have bought 300 of them and had lots of troubles, could not stand oven soldering or even failed after 24 hrs of burn tests, the chip id became bad etc...  The hint was the marking in plain white and really brite,  the originals Xilinx products are in pale "brownish" coloring.

I have a few XC9572, i'll check if i have the XL variants and a few XC9536 ...

We replaced the 9572 with atmel atf1504 with a customized plcc84 pins pcb adapter, in our machines.

The 95108  if available can do a great job, they are not priced too high.  Well  they did go up in the pricing ....

If it helps, here's what my genuine originals look like in the supplied tube from Digikey. They have the brown colour to the text and you can check the font size against any fakes.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think we are going to work something out here.

Offered boards is just an idea, they are professional made, something like 60 euro each.

Btw, you haven't proposed a price yet!

nowadays...

Sure, give me a price and let me decide.

Sure, I never buy from them: all garbage. I have already experimented failures and frustration with such individuals.

I have a few XC9572, i'll check if i have the XL variants and a few XC9536

good, the XC9572 5V is perfect for one of my projects.
Let me know if you can sell, price, and quantity.

Please PM me  :D

The 95108  if available can do a great job

Yup, it's good because it allows me to interface a CPU on its 32bit data bus.
All of this, without the need to force the CPU into 8bit databus mode  :D

If it helps

Why do you offer goods, and then disappear?
Your PM is still blocked, and the above offer is still pending without a price ...

What's wrong, man? I need your chips!

The main differen between XC9500 and the XC9500XL is the source voltage. The main stream uses 3.3V instead 5V. In consequence of this, Xilinx has changed them a couple of years ago. I have just a handfull of 5V devices for spare. Newer design should not use them.

Up!

One of my project doesn't fit with XC9572 since it needs more internal resources in the logic circuits inside.
This I need to replace it with a XC95108 chip which fits the design.

Never investigated but it seems that on the PCB side differences are minimal in changing the chip:

XC9572-PC84 ---> XC95108-PC84

I am still in the need of finding a couple of XC95108-PC84 chips  :D

If you have socketed the PLCC chip this could maybe help:
www.ebay.de/itm/152641958134

I am not the seller, but also bought one
