74LVC1G vs: 2G ??
« on: July 17, 2018, 02:27:56 pm »
I am missing something simple.
What is the difference between a SN74LVC1G74DCUR and SN74LVC2G74DCUR ?
I thought 1G was one gate and 2G was two but it is not.

Your understanding the 1G is one function and 2G is two functions is correct. It seems TI messed up with the nomenclature at some point. The 2G datasheet is from 1999, where the 1Q datasheet is from 2009.

Comparing both datasheets, it seems the 2G variant was a bit more thoroughly characterized over the operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C. although they did not push it to 200MHz at this range (the 1G is shown results at that frequency and temp range).

Overall, the parts are functionally identical.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...
