ave (quite a charecter)
« on: April 20, 2017, 01:54:54 am »
i came across this guy on a recent internet "cruise"....he never shows his face and is pretty funny to boot!
At first i thought he was a comedian or a joke.. but the more i listened, i began to realise he was probably a decent machinest at least.

But what really caught my interest was how he referred to his patron saint of you tubers..that aussie fellow  who says "Dont turn it on, take it apaaaaaarrrt"he also uses alot of daves signature sayings....like bobs your uncle(sometimes he changes it to bobs your auntie)
ave even bought a rigol 1054z dso!
now im sure every one on this forum has seen this guys site.... i  just wonderd what everybody thought of AvE
i find him entertaining.....he semms to know alot about machine tools and hydraulics.....but seems to revert to daves tech savvy
anyway ...eevblog will always be my fave youtube site , but i do vist AvE every now and then
There is no future in the past.

AvE originally was "Arduino vs. Evil"

He renamed the channel after moving to more mech. eng focus.

Interesting, always wondered about the name and where it came from.

Yep his no frills attitude and occasional hammer engineering makes him come out a bit as a dork initially depending on what video you come across, it's only once you watch a couple more that you realise he's actually very clever and simply having good fun.
The way he can fluently string hilarious twisted words is genius  :-DD

I enjoyed a few of his video but I'm not watching regularly because I can barely make sense of what he is saying  ;D.

... and occasional hammer engineering ...

But surely a 4 lb club hammer is the engineering tool. Everything else is mere frippery, strictly for the use of dilettantes only.  ;)
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Miami vice wasn't a tvseries about work holding equipment ;)

Yeah, if you check out some of his old videos, he didn't always do those linguistic gymnastics. It's his signature now, I suppose. Quite fun. Even if you don't know what all of his convoluted phrases and words (real or made up) mean, you can (eventually) get it via context.

ZeTeX is right. In British English, both meanings of the work vice have the same spelling. In US English, they're different spellings, for different meanings. I didn't know this until now.

Rhyming slang takes a bit to get your head around. Double indirection!

I always like his overkill ways of opening packages too.  Such as using a milling machine to open a cardboard box.

I feel some clamshell packages would open nicely on a milling machine though. I have actually used a sawzall for those when getting mad. lol.

+1 clamshell packages should be extincted from earth, there must be a better less frustrating package then this, we almost have solar freaking roadways ( :-DD) and yet we are stuck with stupid clamshell packages.

Clamshell packages are easy, I almost always have a knife, clone leatherman or a pair of scissors or a Stanley knife around, to do the dirty deed to it.

Lacking that I have chewed the packages open before, and just by finding the most blown point and tearing the thin material there. Had a few cuts, but the satisfaction is almost worth it.
