Eevblog forum equation editor?

Maybe this has been asked before, if that is the case could you please pass the link?  (Googling "eevblog equation" returns thousands of unrelated results!) Otherwise, is there a way of posting equations in the forum?  Something like

Surround the equation with \ $  (without the space)  \$y = a x^2 + bx + c\$
Use $ $ without the space to format the equations in their own space.  $$y = a x^2 + bx + c$$

It's essentially Tex/LaTeX code.  \$\int_0^2 x^2 dx\$

Preview doesn't show the result for me.  Let me try posting...

\$y = a x^2 + bx + c\$
\$\int_0^2 x^2 dx\$

BTW, for display equations surround them with $$ rather than \$.

I like the standard equation editor in Word.
Is there any way to copy an equation from Word into the forum?

Is there any way to copy an equation from Word into the forum?

Yes--if you are using Office 365.

1. Enter the equation in Word.
2. Change the equation to LateX using the Conversions area in the Equation Tools--Design tab on the ribbon.
(3. Change the equation display format to Linear.)
4. Copy the LaTeX equation markup from Word into the forum.

Note: Step 3 may not be necessary depending on your equation editor settings.

Example:

I write this equation in Word: 1+1/(2+1/(2+1/(2+⋯)))=√2
I check that it displays nicely.
I convert it to LaTeX.
I copy it to the clipboard.
I paste it here.
It looks like this:
$$1+\frac{1}{2+\frac{1}{2+\frac{1}{2+\ldots}}}=\sqrt2$$

When I read through this thread, at first, I couldn't figure out what everyone was talking about.  Then I saw a reference to mathjax and the light went on.  My security settings routinely block almost all web sites.  These equations only display properly when I allow mathjax.org and cloudflare.com.  Anyone who has trouble seeing the equations should check their security software.  In my case, it was the Noscript plugin for Firefox.
