Breadboard installation for $87 US
« on: February 22, 2018, 04:33:46 am »
First time I have come across an installation for a breadboard.  If I had an extra $87, I would find out what a breadboard installation consists of.

Any guesses ?

The breadboard has round holes.  Does this mean it is better?

Your link heads toward a permanent prototype breadboard...  $87 ?

I could be way off but I think these boards are made for solder.  In fact, they look a lot like PCBs and that's pretty much what the description says.  They seem very suitable to a 'permanent' breadboard.

Just an algorithmic thing. They told Amazon that this is an electronics thingy, Amazon offers installation for electronic thingies.

It is located in "Electronics > Computers & Accessories > Computer Components", amazon thinks it is something that can be installed in a computer.

 :( I'm not getting an 87$ installation feature/option.  But, I'm getting a 3 year and 4 year protection plan option!  :-+

As an Adafruit product, I would expect Lady Ada to do the installation.  Is that right? I'd probably spring for it just to meet her. :)

I think everyone knows this.  But doesn't it seem just so irresponsible?  Stupid?  Maybe I am picking up a RAD-hard IC and I want it installed in a satellite, do they have someone they can send who can competently do that for me?

They'd drop it like Lockheed Martin.

It is irresponsible on a seller's side to mis-categorize the product. It is not a computer equipment, and it should have never been listed as such. But third-party sellers don't care.

Amazon pricing can be weird sometimes.  I found some Atmega microcontrolers once selling for like $60 a pop.  Why would I buy a possible chinese clone for that price when I can buy the real thing for like $4 at Digikey? lol

When I click on the option the following shows up:

Quote
Service will take place at the customer's location
Removal of existing CPU from desktop
Installation of one customer-supplied CPU
Installing new drivers
Component test and cleanup

So clearly they will mount a CPU supplied by the customer to the protoboard, then install that in customer's desktop computer. Easily worth $87. If you think you can mount a CPU to that protoboard and it still work I'd like to see you try.
