Carry case for Brymen 869
« on: April 02, 2015, 08:58:39 pm »
Does anyone know where I can get a decent carry case for the Brymen 869?
Fluke has some nice cases but they are really expensive.

Check with Frankie ( Ilovelectronics) as he has some nice padded cases that fit many meters. Nicely made and quite usable.

I have this in my eBay store: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Synthetic-Leather-Zipper-Carrying-Case-for-Multimeters-Fits-Fluke-Brymen-BM-869-/200943447135

It's Easter weekend here however and the post office is closed, so I'm not taking orders until Monday.

Cheers,
Franky

I have this in my eBay store:
You should put a note in your auction that the meter pictured is NOT included for those who will try to scam you and leave negative feedback.

Thanks Franky! I will have a look after the weekend. It looks good and a great price as well.

@retiredcaps: you are right that he should but it is sad that it is necessary.

Thanks! I will add that. I usually have that kind of note in the pictures of my other listings but forgot to do it for this one.

Did this case fit the 869 OK? I looked on the site and the quoted dimensions seemed a bit tight.

Is there room for the leads?

It is tight but it fits nicely. I even added a extra set of test leads.

Not at the moment unfortunately. The last batch I received from my supplier had some quality control issue so until I (or my bro-in-law who's going to run my eBay store going forward) find a more reliable supplier I'm not selling them yet.

I had some issues with a case not from your shop staining my 87V holster, but unfortunately it seems you have quality control issues too. Somehow it's harder to get a deal on a case than on the meter itself.  :palm:

What's wrong with original Brymen case? You can get it for cca 18€ delivered in Europe...

As far as I can tell, it has no separate compartment for the probes.

You are correct. it doesn't.  You have internal pouch on the cover inside and two velcro strips, one for probes and one for instrument...
Separate closed compartment would be nice, but it's ok this way too..

I wish the cover pouch was larger and had some kind of closure like velcro or elastic. As it is it is far too small and anything you put it it will fall out when you open the case.

I never like those pouches on the inside, where your sharp probes end up exactly next to the screen of the multimeter. You could put them in upside down, but I rather have them neatly separated.

You don't put probes into pouch, you put them next to the instrument, away from the screen to the right side and tighten it with Velcro.. screen is safe then. Pouch is more for booklet or maybe thermocouple ...

I had one of those cases with velcro for my 87V, and it made some nice black marks on the yellow holster. I'm not using those anymore, I've learnt my lesson.

I have to admit is was a holster from a Chinese source, so YMMV. The velcro strap has the typical pattern you find on the back of velcro with regular bumps, see the top part of the image below. These bumps have left a black pattern on the yellow holster. The multimeter was put in the case and maybe moved around a few times, but handled gently. It wasn't carried outside, in a car or any other high vibration environment. It just sat in the case on my desk.

For a soft case, Amazon sells this type of electronic organizers https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N441A06 the large one has lots of room for test leads etc. and the medium one is snug for a Brymen 869s but still has room for a couple of leads.
Harbor Freight sells hard cases for reasonable prices https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=Apache
