Yep mine has about 40mm top and bottom as a dead void plus maybe another 10mm top and bottom around the door opening, making around 100mm of excess space.

The top void is useful for putting 120mm fan. I had plenty of space and the price was right so I just grabbed it.

Oh, I found a spare rack shelf I knew I had somewhere. So, illustration to make clear the thing OP means.
I've never bought one, just been lucky that random racks I get given or find, had a few shelves in them.
