Comet Lovejoy putting on a good show in the south

For those of you who live in the southern hemisphere, get your ass out of bed at 08h00 UT and have a look in the south east for a huge comet rising out of the horizon. I have had some luck here in Chile but we are having our cloudy season early this year It is worth looking for, and earlier if you want to see it rising.

Here is a cloudy view of the comet. And you should go outside around 05H00 local time, not 08H00 UT....

CLoudy here too, plus you have to get up REALLY early to see it !

Yes, it was 05:00 Local time, I was up to feed the cats. By 08:00 UT it would be 10am and full sun, no chance of seeing it.

I gave up on anything related to astronomy due to three unbreakable laws:

• Most events will be visible far to the north, south, east or west, but below the horizon here.
• Any event that might potentially be visible will obscured by clouds, usually combined with a full moon.
• If all conditions are favorable, the event will be too dim, too spradic or too mundane to bother with.
