eBay problem
« on: December 16, 2011, 10:32:27 am »
I have a strange problem and have no idea how to solve it.

I bought 2 items from 2 different sellers, the items are exactly same.

I recieved only one. I asked the sellers to provide the sender adress which was written on the envelope so i could know from which one i recieved my package. Both sellers gave me adress which does not match the one from envelope (it even does not match city). They said they wrote their name on the back of the envelope but that does not match too?

The sender on the envelope is coleman advertising, Shanghai and both sellers never heard about it  :o

And no invoice inside the package or in a sleeve on the outside?

IANAL, but here is my advice:

File an eBay complaint for both sellers claiming the item was not received. I believe this is acceptable since both sellers can not clearly identify that it was their envelope that you received. If you're lucky, you'll get your money back from both.

p.s. In the future, when purchasing things from any place you suspect has tons of questionable sellers, try one or more of the following:
*. Separate out your purchases from China such that you only have one package in flight at a time.
*. Provide different shipping addresses to each item you purchase.
*. Ask each seller to put some unique identifier on the outside of the package (such as a name, word, or number - like a purchase order number).
*. When checking out, ask for a return address to be emailed to you before the package is sent (in case you need to return it), and ask that they write this same return address on the outside of the package, or on a piece of paper to be placed inside the package.

No, nothing only the green customs form.

Usually i recieve a printed buisness card asking to leave 5 star feedback with sellers ebay name. I really have no intention screwing any seller and getting refund for both items. Opening a dispute could also lead to me getting kicked out of ebay for violation of rules.

I asked the sellers again to provide shipping number (tracking number) and we will see will any of it match with the envelope, but im sure they dont have it since they neglected the request first time.

Perhaps they're drop-shipping and therefore don't know what address will have been used for the sender.

I'm surprised you don't have a tracking number on it.  Virtually everything I've had shipped from China includes a tracking number.  And yes everything I have ordered has been shipped via air mail or whatever their equivalent is.  I haven't had quite the same issue as you since I've been able to just compare the tracking # on the package with the one on eBay.

*. You can use accents, double spacing, capital letters and point those down on a piece of paper along with the seller's name.

That is obviously the problem because both never heard about the sending address that is written on the package. Both don't have any data about the shipment number.

I will have to open a case against both, i just hope the package will arrive unitl 30.12 (ebay last day for opening a dispute)

Have you ever tried to track something with one of these numbers? I've had dozens of parcels from china with such Numbers and not had them recognised by the parcel tracking system , That said all my parcels have arrived (eventually) but suppose if they supply bogus tracing number it MAY help your case for a refund but  Still have very little faith in them

Actually I have.  In fact some of them have even had signatures required on them.  Most of the packages I've received lately include two shipping labels, one in chinese and another in English with USPS specific labels, delivery confirmation info, etc.  They track correctly via the USPS website as well as the chinese/hong kong mail websites.

There may be cases where the tracking number is invalid/fraudulent but I doubt very many (if any) are since they would have to be scanned by either the Chinese postal system and/or the USPS.  If the items didn't scan properly I have to believe systems/protocols are in place how to handle those items (destroy, return, etc).
