Explanation of HRC fuse prices?
« on: November 24, 2011, 10:30:10 am »
Does anybody know what happened to HRC fuse prices? In particular the Littlefuse KLK series (10,3x38mm).
Recently prices for these fuses seem to have risen by about 5 times, Farnell used to sell them for 3,65 EUR a piece now they want more than 20,00 EUR! I've seen similar prices elsewhere, what's going on there?

FWIW: I heared exactly the same thing here in the Netherlands when I inquired about a 440mA fuse for my Fluke.  Availability bad too.

So for now I have F0.5A in there.  I am not in the habit of short circuiting wall sockets with my Fluke set to current anyway.
The Fluke I got with the blown fuse inside.

I would stick a label on it declaring it only suitable for low energy circuits, and make it very clear that the CAT III/IV rating is not valid. You never know where it will end up. Having a device labeled something like CAT IV 600V, even though it will likely arc if a transient voltage occurs, is dangerous in my opinion.

I get your drift, but no worries, this is my private meter and the only one using it is me.  My equipment is not being lent out.

You don't have to have access to an exceptionally intelligent translator, but I expect you to PM me if your translator gives you garbage! Since when the Greeks became shy?  ;D
