Fluke beware of the FTIKE
« on: April 19, 2010, 07:04:41 am »
Check out this picture ...  ;D

I think that some one works as spay in this forum for the PRC boys ..  :P

They had start using names  like " FTIKE"  " FUKE " ,   Yellow grey colors ,  and even Green grey ,
MetraWatt you can not escape from this war ..   ;D

It is a marketing war, after all ..

I am not talking here about the quality of those , I just stand as an observer ,
watching from far , the events .

The market , no matter the nation and the products ,  is dying to learn what are our likes,
and dislikes .

They need to sale , and if possible to get an large market share.

This planet runs with deferent "financial"  speeds,  The European and American markets, are just one part of our planet .

The Asian players ,  they have they own ground to play , they are over a billion people in China , or even more  ( customers ).

Africa - India - Russia _ Pakistan ,   truly  gigantic markets for expansion.

I do not think that Fluke or MetraWatt , will suffer from the "competition"  like  the external look of the product .

But from another point of  view , are those "famous " products reasonably priced ?
What we truly pay for ?  the product or the brand name ?

If those  "famous "  products was reasonable priced ,  the room for cheap replicas would be "very very" narrow.

The same story with the multimeters,  happens also and in other products , like the motorcycle helmets ,
the well made ones  from ARAI & SHOEI , cost an fortune to get them ... and the cheap alternatives dominates the market because of that.

Thats another post called as : Food for the Mind .
Free to comment as always ..  :)

Thanks K.  One thing I find notable in MIC culture [ made-in-Chxxa] is a larger amount of counterfeit or near counterfeit electronics parts and products.

That website you linked is very interesting, it uses an image format that is assembled in real time by the browser, so it cannot be linked.

Photos enclosed.

It appears to look like the for Asia only use Fluke 17B.

Its a good thing they didn't call it FEUKE, then you could use a yellow marker to erase the 2 lines in the E to make it spell FLUKE.

personally if I discover an 87-5 for the Asian market , at 1/4 of the price,
I would feel like a moron, at list..

I have nothing against China, and I have even Chinese friends down there, as I do have and Japanese too.

The problem is not the people or their flag, but the games of the large corporations, under the table.

Hi K,

If it was a real Fluke, I'd feel cheated.  But I doubt it, since what makes a Fluke a Fluke is not just the construction, but all the testing the meters get after they are made to insure they do what they do.

The problem with electronics is particularly striking coming out of Asia, it well known here in the USA.

The only way to stop this is to enforce trademark or copyrights, which is not very good in China.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property_in_the_People%27s_Republic_of_China#Difficulties

Its not unusual for an engineer working for a production factory of a US company, to take what he learned and the trade secrets, taught to him by the US company, and go to another factory to build a copy, for his own profit.    So the only way for US company's to insure they do not lose their intellectual property, is not to manufacture in China, such as many weapons makers.

I have not yet seen a true counterfeit Fluke meter of any type.
