Found a new interesting channel
« on: September 22, 2017, 01:25:23 am »
At the title says, I would like to share a new channel I found on YT. Found this one a few weeks ago, and I found it's contents are quite entertaining. Don't click in if you hate math.

I just started watching that 2 weeks ago. Looks like the youtube algorithms work quite well.

Must be something in the water....

I started watching a few of these lately as well.  The square root of -i was fun.

When he did the odds on the Lotto numbers, however, I had to skip to the end after 10 seconds ... I'd already worked out the answer.

But, usually, it is a great bit of entertainment if you don't mind Math.

Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

Interesting, would've been fun to watch during undergrad. Do you know this guy?

Believe it or not all 1.3 billion Chinese people know each other. They meet on wechat. I worked with a Korean guy and you would be amazed at how many inner city people knew a *Chinese* guy and would ask him if he knew him *after* he told them he wasn't chinese. I would always ask them if they knew jay Z. They would always look at me funny and say
"why would I know JayZ?"
- "I don't know why would he know Lao Ping Wu?"
"I don't get it"  :palm:

"Imaginary numbers are not some wild invention, they are the deep and natural result of extending our number system. Imaginary numbers are all about the discovery of numbers existing not in one dimension along the number line, but in full two dimensional space. Accepting this not only gives us more rich and complete mathematics, but also unlocks a ridiculous amount of very real, very tangible problems in science and engineering."

Believe it or not all 1.3 billion Chinese people know each other.

I believe that guy was born in Taiwan and received grade school education abroad.
He has some Chinese videos, which shows his not-so-correct Chinese wording for math related terminologies (both incorrect in mainland mandarin and Taiwan national Chinese), which indicates he received grade school education (at least high school) abroad.
His otherwise Chinese accent and wording indicates he definitely received primary education in Taiwan. His Chinese accent definitely doesn't sound like anywhere in China mainland or HK/Macau, and not like anyone I know of from Malaysia or Singapore.

They meet on wechat.

WeChat is not a SNS app. It's not mainly for contacting online friends. It's more like a communication tool for contacting real life friends. It's more of a business tool.
It's very like WhatsApp (both are clones of Japanese/Korean app Line), but in China, QQ is more for chatting with online-only friends, and WeChat is for family members, classmates and colleagues.
Both QQ and WeChat are provided by the same company, Tencent, so when Tencent launched WeChat, they made sure it won't eat into profit of QQ (one of Tencent's primary incomes, only next to their online gaming service).

I didn't even know wechat was Chinese. I just heard the name wechat somewhere and the word chat popped up in my head so I said wechat. Better then mechat or youchat or theychat.
