Title: Help me help a friend - reading schematics

I have a friend who is getting into electronics, and he wants a book to learn to read schematics. My problem is that I don't know of any such material in English and don't want to seem unhelpful. Besides, I think it's down to gradually building up from little projects, and it's not really a matter of sitting down and reading a book (imo, anyway).
In any case, if there are useful schematics-reading books in English, please let me know, and I'll pass on your recommendations.

I have two on my bookshelf I was given for free over a decade ago. "How to Read and Interpret Scematic Diagrams by J. Richard Johnson" and "Complete Guide to Reading Schematic Diagrams by John Douglas-Young" Both are a bit dated being that many of the circuits include vacuum tubes.

I'd go with Google search too, but he wants a book. I'll pass on Patrick's refs in the meantime. Thanks!

Yes, yes, but I am not going to change his way of thinking.
I was asked about books on schematics, I passed on Patrick's suggestions - that's it, job done!  :)

Please accept hearty thanks from myself and my friend; he found Douglas-Young's book and is very pleased with it.
