How to find old chips?
« on: July 09, 2011, 02:03:41 am »
I posted in the buy/sell/wanted section that I was looking for some memory chips but have had no replies yet. I have an LCD monitor that uses a memory chip ML12L16161A-5T, that is made by Elite Semiconductor Memory Technology Inc. It appears that there a a few substitutes available such as IS42S16100C1-5T made by Integrated Silicon Solution, Inc., or EM636165TS-5 made by EtronTech, or K4S161622E-TC50 made by Samsung, or GM72V161621 by Goldstar, and who knows who else.

My question is: How do I find qny supply of these parts? I know they ESMT parts were used in some NVidia GeForce cards in the past. Perhaps these SDRAM chips were also used in SDRAM modules for computers too.

I hope someone can point me to a place to buy these or perhaps someone has these chips on a video card lying around.

Thanks for any help! I do not want to throw away a beautiful monitor (IPS) just for two lousy memory chips.
