How To Use Smileys, Quote Tags, And Pictures.

Hi SgtRock.

About the pictures in the bottom, it is the forum setting, that lowers down wasted bandwidth, and at the side of the server,
and also protects the users with low speed connections, from the automatic load of who knows what file size of pictures, that had been loaded from one or several users.

By using technical tricks that by pass this limitation, you could have a blog style looking presentation, that would cause a waste in bandwidth and time.
The page will take ages to load.

About the smileys, just click the one that you need, with your mouse , when the typing cursor flashes at the end of your text,
that you need to add it.

Many forums have an special " test box" that users can write testing messages and learn what the forum  text editor can do.
The EEV does not have one.   

For an simple quote, highlight the text that you need, and press the button for it.
By moving your mouse over its button , in a second or two , appears an helping label that explain what it does.

It's fairly easy. Instead of typing your message in the quick reply box down below, find the navy looking Reply button and click that. It will expose a reply box with more options, allowing you to format text, etc.

The quote tag is a very valuable feature, it makes things easier to differentiate between your and someone else's text. Here is an example on how to use it:

The 'Help' link (at top left of the page, assuming the default skin -- next to the orange (?) Home button) takes you to a set of links into the SMF documentation including a section posting which includes some related information -- but having just had a look, urgh, it's not the clearest user guide I've ever seen!

For quotes, I usually just click the 'quote' link that shows up at the top-right of each individual post.  That brings up the 'post reply' form where you can trim sections of the quote out, etc.; the advantage of using the little links for doing that is that they include additional information to introduce the quote and provide a link back to the original post.  Great for following context when a thread's got long and complex, in keeping with the grand old web-forum tradition of 'let's just ignore everything we learned from Usenet', bah humbug.

Smilies I always just type -- the forum converts them into silly faces automatically.  My phone started doing that too after a recent software update and if I thought Nokia gave a flying fig I'd complain vociferously about it.

another good idea is to have a look on youtube, for a video, I bet that it will be plenty.
