See afrotechmods videos for presentation style - he is really good!

He also never appears on camera, likely does not speak off the cuff (mostly post-edit voice-over), and does short attention span videos.
I agree he is very good. But, he's him, I'm me. I have no desire to do videos like him.

I feel  that most of his stuff is in the "Well-----Duhh!" category,& is for those without a lot of knowledge or commonsense!
I particularly take issue with his video entitled:-

"Amplitude Modulation Tutorial & AM radio transmitter circuit "

In this,he purports among other things, to give a brief overview of the History of Radio.
How anyone can do this,without once mentioning Marconi, is beyond me,but it appears that he is a card carrying member of the Tesla Cult,as dear old Nikola got a mention!

Later on,he makes an RC oscillator,then goes on to AM modulate it.
The modulated signal looks nothing like any RF envelope I've ever seen,so it appears that either his cruddy Owon PDS 5022 is incapable of displaying such a signal,or he has an overmodulation problem.

But,then,I'm a grumpy old sod!

Definitely not irritating at all, a bloody legend in fact. I've learned a lot, and been entertained heaps along the way thanks to his style. It's like the other day when I was talking to a local tech at a pub, a really casual and interesting conversation where someone much smarter than me was sharing some wisdom. My favourite way to learn.

OK, one gripe though... the word is exactly Dave, not "edzackly"

There are nasty people everywhere but I find this forum generally pretty good for comments compared to various software programming forums. Go post on one of those and just wait for the zealots to appear.

I dont understand English in conversations. I learned by myself, reading and writing (and google translate) but I don't understand the pronunciation of complete sentences.

I'm irritated, first with me and after with youtube and inability to show correct captions with Dave's videos, as someone who does not understand English, but I can read it.

As importantly, he makes sketches or visual references, but I also miss the nuances, subtleties and irony.

The same could apply to anyone who can't hear or circumstantially not have audio on their computer.

But this does not detract nor thanks to Dave and his videos that I find a cool, nice, casual style ...  although I did not understand the words.

If you look at others, some of them have become corrupted from youtube money they were making (ehm... kipkay... *cough*). I absolutely hate it when someone changes because of the amount of income they make!

Dave, you are an absolutely irritating Aussie bloke!!   Brilliant!!   Keep up the good work!  I am a short timer, only joining in October of last year, but I feel I have known you and the blog for years!  I love the rants, the hand gestures, the lunging at the camera, the accent,  all of it.  I haven't checked out 'Barbie' and certainly can't be bothered ( ), but she does remind me of a quote from Carroll Shelby who said that it was better to have people say bad things about me than nothing at all, at least they're taking notice.

The world is too full of ineffectual apologetic people, with bland squishy vague ideas and opinions. People whose attitudes are dictated by marketing corporations from Blandsville, Florida and "Faith Based Organisations" in Dubyabush, Alabama. Unlike large swathes of the world, Australia still has blokes who aren't afraid to be themselves. Their surf rescue fellas still wear speedos, and have you seen Aussie Rules and Rugby League shorts?
