Just joined aliexpress -horrible pop-up coupon every page ???

I joined last knight and I hope there listed shipping is right because its 50-60days for most China components, Vs often even longer on ebay.

However there's a $4 coupon pop-up everytime a enter a new page, and it takes 3-4sec to load/close it. and it blocks the shipping times, so I can't even x the page right away.

When I joined I did use it to claim a $4 sign-up gift. So thanks, but I remember checking aliexpress last Dec and seeing the same pop-up.

Surely its not might to be like that ?? Every single page.

I don't have that problem (pop-ups), but it might be my ad blocker...

Don't expect different shipping times than ebay. Those are mostly the stores that also sell on ebay. Ali/ebay have nothing to do with the long shipping time, and in many cases neither do the stores. Economy shipping from Chine is painful sometimes, but if you want it for free...

Yes the coupon pop-up shows up on Aliexpress EVERY PAGE. It's super f'in annoying despite Adblock, uBlock etc. as it's not an "ad".

If you log in, it does not appear.

Wow that's annoying. And it doesn't even make since if I follow it, it says I already have it anyways.

I'm going to mod my Vici VC99 today, including soon a fast continuity tester like on a old analog meter. The update speed or whatever of the Vici is crazy slow.

However I might use a recording of Jar Jar Binks quote's instead.

Its just an estimate, and the slow shipping is 100% due to canada post and CBSA. Nothing to do with the seller or the site.
Although some sellers do use UBI/epacket which are much faster than china post. Epacket will cost $3-4 more over free shipping generally.

When ordering from AliExpress I always use ePacket if possible..
I will search through vendors to find one that offers it..
I have sometimes got packages in less than 2 weeks using it and it has tracking...
Worth the extra $$....

You realize you can block specific things manually with Adblock Plus, right?

Just tell it to block whatever element has that pop-up and it should be permanently gone.

I can't stand that either.  I avoid that site because of that.  This is not a "standard" pop up so popup blockers nor ad blockers block them.  They're called Modals and it's a stupid trend that so many sites use now, but Aliexpress is the worse as it does it for every single page.

I joined this forum SPECIFICALLY to answer this question.

I use https://noscript.net for Firefox to block ads and unwanted javascript stuff. You'll need to find your own equivalent for other browsers.

The problem is that alicdn.com loads masses of page content including this popup. What it actually delivers, if you inpsect the code, is an iframe with a mask, so you have to click on the coupon, and the coupon itself. Fortunately noscript allows us to target what gets blocked.

From the Aliexpress.com page open the noscript settings.
For the alicdn.com choose a custom setting.
Turn OFF the frame setting.

That should remove the coupon popup for good!

Dunno what browser you use. I use Firefox and all pop-ups are blocked by default (at least if you check the right option). I never have any pop-up on Aliexpress.
As for shipping, it depends. A lot of sellers have comparable shipping options and shipping times than on eBay, but I've found that sellers tended to offer more shipping options than on eBay (of course at an additional cost...), whereas on eBay a lot of them only offer free shipping (which is awfully slow).

These are not standard popups, but those annoying javascript based modal ones that so many sites seem to use now days.  Unfortunately I don't think any popup blockers block those as they don't really show up as a popup.  I pretty much avoid Aliexpress because it's rage inducing having that thing constantly come up.   Noscript is not really viable, it makes using the internet a huge chore because rather than blocking specific types of scripts, it's all or nothing, per domain.  So trying to load any site you're spending 5 minutes trying to figure out which of the 40 domains you need to allow just for the site to load.    Web coding now days is so unbelievably bloated with javascript.

I use Firefox with NoScript.  I see the coupon on the home page, click the 'x' in the corner, and it collapses to a pink bar under the wish list 'heart' icon.  I never see it fullscreen after that.

I had blocked it with uBlock Origin and a custom rule.  Make sure you find the lowest container element and do it by tag or whatever, otherwise you get an invisible element you can't click through.
