justhost - just don't use them
« on: March 07, 2011, 07:42:15 am »
i use justhost for my hosting. I also registered a number of domains with them. Well the hosting has been ok but the domain management: Horendous. If I've missed any spam reports I appologise as my domain expired and despite my being in credit with them they suspended the domain. I have spent the weekend trying to get it reactivated and apparantly this is about to happen but not after many emails where i have had to demonstrate that I am who I say i am as I've had to contact them from another address (also registered with them) and explain to them in simple terms (VERY VERY simple terms) that the fact that I have accessed my control panel and changed my main address to the one I had to contact the from might just mean that I am who I say I am and that I have authority over the account, and I've already paid for the domain from a paypal account registered to an email address on the domain in question !

Their incompetence has known no limits as i've battled to get them to understrand simple things and had to explain things 2 or 3 times. Litterally it has been like trying to deal with 5 year olds.

In with this they are not cheap, standard domain registration is £9.95 where as LCN.com do it for £3.50 (if you get it for 2 years).

Anyway. Word of warning, think of using them ? DON'T ! you WILL regret it !

You can't deal with a local domain registry directly? For example, http://www.cira.ca/ for me.

I've been using www.fxdomains.com for all my domains for probably a decade now.
No mess, no fuss.

Yeah, godaddy is really good. I have been using them for over 5 years and had no problems. Up time is very reliable, prices are good, and overall service is amazing. I would agree that the menu interface is quite confusing unless you use it regularly.

another thing i forgot to mention. the menu takes longer time to show up on my screen, not sure though whether it is just me?

I do use LCN.com for domains and am switching all my domains to them. I was finding it easier in the begining to use justhost for the lot.

the general hosting service is good but their support is shit. When you have a problem it is like dealing with 5 year olds. I had to explain to them how to verify my address was legitimate.

although LCN.com also offer hosting they are not so cheap, it seems to be the reverse.

Can't say that I have experienced much delay in getting the menu to show up. For me it just takes a while to find out where to go to get the menu I want.  ;)

As I dont do anything serious anymore and my domains are just for fun I use dyndns.org for my dns and domain reg, they're cheap and have worked out well for me so far. I cant comment on a commercial level how they would be, but for a home user they are excellent.

I take that back, they want £62 to be "part of the club" and have your own website for reselling. Then you buy packages at just under what they sell them for and resell them for near no profit (unless your a huge reseller)
