Keysight Webinar Signup - Requires Company Name?
« on: January 02, 2019, 08:26:27 pm »
I have bought parts from Keysight and so they have my email address. So I get these offers to sign up for webinars. So just for the heck of it I thought I'd sign up for -

"Live Webinar: A Step Beyond Oscilloscope Basics"

But the form for signing up requires a company name. Has anybody run into this before? Does it really require a company name? Might have to ask Daniel about this one.  :(
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

I ... suppose I could, but my inner conscience doesn't want me to  - yet. I mean I know marketing is part of a company's model, but why do they want people to have to be in a company to learn things.  :-//

Just type in "none" for company, i don't see why they would not let you into a webinar because if that

I do it a lot on annoying forms that i don't want to fill in the first place. Like some places that give you a form before they let you download something. In those cases my name is "none" my last name is "none" my address is "none", my phone number is "000000000" and sometimes even my email is "none@none.com". Just enough to get past the automated check that i filled everything and the website gives me the link i wanted.

Tho for things like this i would fill out at least the basic stuff like my name.

I hear ya.

Well it's another on of those Mega-company inefficiencies because they already have all my info - because I've bought parts. I should just have to log in and request the webinar. If the company name is not a real requirement then why make it so as to have people typing in "none" or making up names? Gah.

Anyway I will probably do as you say but I did send Daniel a PM to see what he hs to say.

I almost always write "Personal" in those fields. Never been denied access to a thing like that. I think they probably want that for future marketing/analytics purposes more than anything else.

It may be acceptable to use a name in the style of "xrunner Consulting", "XR Engineering", or something like that. Close enough for government work.

For those who want a date of birth (where there is no perceivable justification for it) I give them 21st July, 1969.

Hi everyone, back from vacation here :).

If you don't have a company, you can just put something like "self" or "NA" or whatever you're comfortable with. The powers that be want folks to put their company name if relevant, but it's not like you'd get booted if you made something up.
