Looking for a replacement for TL032A
« on: July 06, 2011, 11:57:41 pm »
Hi,

A TL032A opamp is used at post isolation to convert the differential signal to single-ended (see attached figure, http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tl032a.html). I'm looking for alternative parts (preferably in DIP package and is available from Farnell/RS/Mouser) with better performance to replace the TL032A. I'm not familiar with the opamp part# in the market and would be glad if you could recommend one or two.

Cheers.

with better performance

What characteristic of the TL032A is not good enough for your application?

I delete PMs unread. If you have something to say, say it in public.

According to the datasheet of ACPL-790x, the output rise/fall time (typical) is 1.7us.
Since Cadence Orcad v10.3 does not have the PSPICE model for TL032A, I choose TL082.
The simulation results with TL082 (without/with C1/C2 capacitors) are attached.
Note that the output rise/fall time is limited by the slew rate of TL082.
The last figure compares the specs of TL082A and TL032A.
Since TL082A's slew rate is approximately two times higher than the TL032A, it is expected that the output rise/fall time of the TL032A will be higher too.
I'm looking for alternate parts (with better performance, e.g. higher slew rate than the TL032A and the TL082A, similar (or lower) input voltage offset to (than) TL032A, higher GBW (e.g. >10MHz), available in DIP package, etc.) to replace the TL032A.
I hope that, with alternate op-amp, the post signal conditioning circuit will not "add" more rise/fall time to the input signal.

OP-27 -- transistor input, 8 MHz gain bandwidth, 2 volt/us, and 0.1 mV DC offset.  Available as OP-37 uncompensated with much higher slew rate and GBW.

OPA134 -- jfet input, 8 MHz gain bandwidth, 20 V/us slew rate, but a 2 mV DC offset.  Available in dual and quad packages.

There are many others.  Go to any of the big analog chip makers and use their part search.
