Foldable phones are all the rage! Marketing wank or practical?

People want powerful processors, lots of features, thin, and huge screens, or at least the market wants people to want that. When you have a big, thin, powerful device there's not a lot of room for extra structure so it ends up being somewhat fragile. With the trend being toward edge to edge screens, there's no room for a protective bezel. Personally I think that trend is stupid, I'd rather have a thicker bezel to give me something to hold onto, I don't need a huge screen, I have other devices if I want to watch a movie or something on it. But I seem to be the minority or at least opposite of trends.
