It's very common among companies which have a bring your own device (BYOD) policy to implement their own network policies (and if they haven't implemented basic network policies and security, then they are morons).
Just be careful because with BYOD policies, it can easily blur the lines of what is personal and what is company data. You could also find yourself on the wrong side of your companies internet policy if you're using their Wi-Fi network and syncing all your personal applications.
Not saying you'd be posting rubbish on Facebook or syncing dodgy files to your Google Drive, but these are things a lot of people don't think about.
