Microsoft tampering with Search Engine
« on: July 10, 2012, 01:42:40 am »
Microsoft sulking at the imposition of a tax upon users of their POS browser has struck back by tampering with their POS search engine.
The real irony being that the only people stupid enough to use Bing are the ones likely to still be using IE7.

While the number who have heard of or purchased from Kogan is tiny it still has to be orders of magnitude greater than those who know no better than to rely on Bing.

Does anyone use Bing at all? I've never seen it used, even by the sort of PEBKAC people whose computers I'm always fixing. When your engine's name has entered the dictionary as a synonym for "searching online", it tends to have an effect.

I have known about Bing since it was created by Microsoft, however i have no need or desire to move from using Google.

I always get an uneasy feeling whenever Microsoft come out with new things.

Some software tries to install a Bing search bar when installing Also if you put a fresh install of windows on a computer Bing tries to worm its way in along with IE. I have found that IE often comes back after I have removed it with the next load of updates shortly after the fresh installation is done.

I installed 3 new workstations today.
I booted them up, selected region and keyboard settings, opened IE to ensure they had found the router and they all said Congratulations your Bing Bar is installed.
I had all 3 running Chrome as default browser and Goggle as default search before I had finished installing the AntiVirus software :)
It must have been an instinctive revulsion reflex :)
