Huh.. I expected GNU cat to be completely different. But it's sort of similar, a lot.. Are we looking into some fairly standard executable format header or what?

Yep, ELF format executables.

The first bytes are 0x7F 'E' 'L' 'F'.  To be precise: an elf is in the house.

That's preposterous!  :box:

Who says it's GNU?

Who says it's Linux?

The cat itself says so.

Amazing. So you did access my system and type that?

Otherwise it's still preposterous!  :horse:

Oops, no!  :-[  I genuinely thought it was the same cat, because yours looks exactly like mine.

It does! I guess I was looking at the cat, and not the box. Mine insists on a tux box.

My cat runs on the "GNU Linux". From your screenshot I guess you're running Mac OS and I think (can't check right now) it uses BSD flavoure coreutils. But yeah, I'm only guessing what you have there  :P :D

A busybox cat.  A very unique breed, shrouded in legends, sometimes lacking what you need, but when you're in the middle of a desert you will find it's the only cat with loyalty.

Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

Actually it's a ssh connection to a FreeBSD server. And FreeBSD uses BSD cat, not GNU ;)

Now, my apologies, I didn't intend to hijack the thread with this silly joke!

I may or may not be enticing my neighbour's cats to come over so I can pet them by conveniently placing food outside for them.

At my last flat, there was access to the roof and my two used to run around up there. One of them would disappear for hours on end, and wasn’t eating, but she wasn’t losing weight either: the only reason she seemed to come home was for a dump in the litter tray and increasingly rare cuddles. Some months later, in passing one of my neighbours mentioned she’d befriended an astonshingly well-groomed  “stray” cat, and wondered where it’d come from.

(Ours don’t wear collars but they are microchipped.)

My cat is not the sharpest tool in the shed, she'd probably inhale all the fumes or try to lick the solder iron.  She likes any kind of smoke.  Especially cigarettes. lol.
