Title: Recommendations for a company i can pay to make & crimp cables in lots of 50.
Post by: Psi on October 22, 2017, 04:49:49 am
So i'm looking for a company i can use to order pre-crimped cables.

Basically, what i'm looking for is 50 sets of
- 12x 24awg wires
- 1.5 meters(5 feet)
- Colors i specify
- Cut wire at one end, and a crimped connector on the other end.

The connector is just the standard 24p ATX psu connector, so nothing very specialized.

Maybe ~$4 per cable assembly cost would be reasonable.

Does anyone have any recommendations ?

I've been doing it myself up to now, but it's just time consuming and you get a sore hand after crimping that many wires. So am looking to contract it out.

http://dirtypcbs.com/store/cables (http://dirtypcbs.com/store/cables) perhaps. I've not used them for cables, and that assembly would be $5.61 each in 100 quantity..

I have no idea on the costings, bit it seems there are plenty of companies in NZ,

The search term your after is "cable assemblies"

You can expect to pay for:
The connectors
The terminals
The wire per meter

And the setup and tooling costs.

For a batch of 50, the last 2 will be the killer, considering the other 3 likely already put you close to $3 per loom.

I've done two orders with Dirty Cables( in total 1400 cables of 6 different types), I've had them do 20 and 22AWG with JST XH, PH and dupont connectors. They do a good job and a pretty quick. No complaints.
