Rigol releases DS4000, an over $3000 scope

Probably based on their high performance 6000 series scopes.
Amazing what you can get for the money these days.

I wonder if the front end is the same across all scopes, Agilent couldn't manage it for the price.

aesthetically, agilent is better imo. the monitor looks smallish in this rigol. i wonder what size it is.

Has anyone used these?  How is the firmware?  If I am paying for a high end scope I don't want to be constantly fighting with the user interface in order to take advantage of its features.

Well, I tried to add some comments on the pdf of DS4000, translating Chinese to English.

That's golden week we call. Most Chinese have at least 5 days off and some smart combine their deposite day offs to make a sweet long vacation before the cold Spring festival in Feb.

These scopes look like a whole new class of low end scopes, a lot now depends on what they price it.  It appears better than many of the scopes reviewed on eevblog except the Agilent Infinivisions.

you can already guess, when you look on the DS6000 series, the 1Ghz 2ch model costs the same as 4ch 600MHz.
So the DS4000 top model will probably costs the same as 600MHz DS6000 (6500USD).
Now the 200Mhz will costs half the price and 100MHz model again the half, so something (at least!)
about 1200-1800USD for 100Mhz two channel DS4000 and 4ch 100MHz 2000-2400USD.
But of course that's only a guess, you never know how much price difference is in real to sample at 4 instead of 5GSs,
nor how much cheaper (if any) is the bit lower wfrm/s rate nor what Rigol calculated as bottom price.
More important would be to know the price list for protocol options, this might be additional win/no win

Now the topic says "over 3k USD", which is for me as just over ... so let's imagine this is press price for
lowest model with all options which then back calculated can be really around 1200-1800USD for lowest model.

Aynway, we will know it soon.

Yes, couldn't decipher it from laziness, thanks tinhead.  If it starts at $3k, that's a bit tough compared to Agilent, as we need to factor in Rigol's reputation for tech support and the many quality variations we see for various products of theirs made on the forum.

You're comparing it to the Agilent 2000X. That's apples and oranges. At that price point the direct comparison would be the 3000X. We end up with:

Update rate: Agilent 10x more
Memory depth: Rigol 70x more

Thanks for the update 2bFrank, I was just reading the Agilent line up and was about to mention that.  At Rigol's priced range [ the street price could be less once its released ], one has to weigh using more memory as it reduces the update rate more relative to each sweep speed.

actually with both, the low specs DS4000 models are more relevant to DSOX2000 where high spec (and as well DS6000)
are in DSOX3000 class. However, we don't know anything about included options in that price nor final option price,
and definitely nothing about what the firmware really can, so not a time for real compare.

Just from specs i would say worth money. Now with these DS6xxx and DS4xxx a very bright product range has been
covered by Rigol, te question is when the DS2xxx for 1k USD class will follow. I just can't imagine that Rigol will sell
for years these outdated E/D series. Sure CA is nice on paper, but i just can't believe that Rigol will continue with these series.

These are not official site. Rather they are from some local dealer source but here I give you the price to have a look at the price scale for different specs (e.g. between 4054 and 4052) so you would figure out the local prices at your place.
