Seeking info on military field phone TA-427AR

I am interested in seeking info on military field phone set TA-427AR like this one. Who was the manufacturer, what years, where was it used and how much value it may have.

  I can't tell you.  I've never seen one or heard of one and I'm sort of skeptical that these are US military.
