Suggestion for good homes for ex-review equipment
« on: September 24, 2010, 09:20:41 am »
I notice that Sydney has a hackerspace : http://hackerspace.pbworks.com/
I'm sure they would welcome donations of ex-review test gear, and make good use of it, as would other hackerspace type projects, who I'm sure would be happy to pay for domestic shipping.

BTW Dave, have you ever been to a Dorkbot Sydney? meeting?
If you wanted to explore the possibility of a local Maker Faire type vent, these would be the guys to talk to about how to go about it.

Talking about hackspaces. There is one in London

http://wiki.hackspace.org.uk/wiki/London_Hackspace

Not been to it yet as the membership fee (£40) is a bit steep for me at the moment.
Just thought people would be interested.

I would've thought he would sell all the ex-review equipment he doesn't need on ebay.

They have a regular 'open night' every Tues evening from 7:30PM. In practice the membership fee is fairly flexible, depending on how much you use the facilities.

I likely will eventually for anything worthwhile.
Smashed up $50 and $100 meters aren't worth much though!

I've already donated 6 workbenches to the Sydney Hacker Space.

Do you attend the Sydney hackerspace often dave?

I saw you on the member list, but I've never seen you there.

Never been there actually!
It's on the opposite side of Sydney to me, and I've never actually had a need to go there and hang out to do stuff, so it's kinda been hard to find an excuse to go. One day!

Dave.

Yeah, I'm in near hornsby, bit of a trek. But I have friends there now, so I go most saturdays.

Mostly software guys there anyway, although the TWO working makerbots last weekend was fun :P

Need more solder programmers there. ;)
