(I'm in the U.S. FWIW)

Hi all-

I found these at Digi-Key and bought some  https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/essentra-components/CER-3/RPC2173-ND/3811720

But I'd like to find something taller and I'm coming up empty.

The I.D. of the one I got is fine, it's 1.6mm for my resistor lead of about 1.1mm

I'd like to find a larger O.D. so it's more likely to stand up straight

And the height of the one I got is only 10mm.... would really like to roughly double that to 19 or 20mm.  These resistors run HOT and have really done a number to the board.  I'm gonna need to spend some quality time with a Dremel to clean the mess up, and I don't want it to happen again.

Thanks!

Any change you can use 2 of those?

Yeah that's what I'll do for now but it's not elegant.  Would like to find a neater answer that won't bend around in transit.

(and sorry for the weird cut-n-paste crap in my original post, glitch in the Matrix I guess, I've cleaned it up)

McMaster to the rescue.  They are always worth checking for fasteners and materials.

Nope, nothing there is better than what I've already found.

If you sort for ceramic only with a hole that goes all the way thru you get just one match and it's shorter than what I got from Digi-Key.

I suppose I could consider metal standoffs, many are available thru-hole & 19/20mm tall, but that just doesn't seem like a good idea.

A thought, if you need to support a big bulky component like a wirewound power resistor, you can rout a hole in the PCB under the component, so it can sit relatively low over, or in, the board while allowing airflow around it.

Don't think I've seen that very much, or ever?  Could be handy for some situations though.

That is a neat idea thanks Tim!

Keystone makes some close to what you want and they're in stock at Mouser, but way more expensive that I would have expected. I think what Tim suggested is a good idea.

That's a great idea.

Sadly this is a retrofit situation and there just isn't room to do it.  But thanks for the thought, I might steal it in the future  ;)

Oh yeah, some of these are surprisingly spendy!

I looked at this series earlier (well, the 6-32 size anyway) and they do not have a hole all the way thru.  No way to slide them over a component lead.
