Yes definitely to the first two. Collect all of different brands in a color theme,

then change color theme and start another collection

Oh let's not forget the lab desk set. the garage set, and the "on location" or "field" set!

Back ups of everything!!

1) A Fluke / Philips frequency counter. I already have one frequency counter and now I have two, but this was a bargain. Now I will need a third frequency counter to see which one is correct.
Especially if all three are hooked up to the same reference oscillator :P.

Recent forking tool acquisition ...  ::)  :-DD

A Kyoritsu KEW 2300R, NCV (Non Contact Voltage) detector and DC/AC current "fork" current tester, as it doesn't need to clamp on the cable to measure the current (open fork), spec -> HERE

Well at least that it helps you give confidence in your reference oscillator by using all thee to separately check it against the built in. As long as you don't develop time nut symptoms you are fine. While they don't cause degradation to your health they do cause degradation to your bank account.

I'm sorry brethren but I've been very bad. Last weekend I was at the Friedrichshafen ham radio show and I ended up coming home with the following:

...

It's no good, I can't break free of this habit, I need to see all those dials and displays.

Sounds like you did quite well at the hamfest. A bad outcome would've been coming home empty-handed. ;D

I gotta stay off E-bay. (I'm a terrible liar)  Just bought a Fluke 8050A. I don't need another DMM (Yes, I do!). It will join my Fluke 87, 8021B, 8000A, 8010A, Mastech MS8040, and Tek 2465 with DMM option. That's too many DMM's (No, it isn't). I need therapy (Not gonna happen). There's no hope for me (You finally admitted you are weak).

Anyway, when it shows up I'll do a show and tell.

I have an 8100A and it is my second favorite multi-meter. Only two reasons it is not THE be all end all multimeter of mine, 1) Nixie tubes! 2) only 3.5 digit but i don't currently have anything more than that.

But ultimately a lot more expensive once you take the associated costs of needing to have them around in regular fashion.

Anybody near Carson City Nevada?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-Tektronix-2213A-7904-HP-1720A-54111D-Hitachi-HeathKit-Oscilloscopes-Parts-/162600427530?hash=item25dbbda00a:g:pW8AAOSwAPlXhqSl

I have two old Heathkit scopes like the one in the middle of that pile.   One works, the other does not.  Been taking up space in my closet for 15 years or more.  Thought about fixing the bad one and selling them on eBay but they don't go for much.  I guess they do serve to keep my scope count up so I can qualify for TEA...

Exactly!  And as we all know, he who dies with the most scopes wins!   :-+ :-+

Does yours emit high frequency noise? Just curious because mine does.

Well, this one is mine for upcoming project. It's just a power pack, sadly.

Not that I noticed. I guess I'll have to take a closer listen to it to be sure. I haven't even opened it up since it worked fine out of the box. Hehe.

Ah, OK. I didn't remember where you left off on the other project with a similar power pack. Now that you have your own power supply, I suppose the rest will find you. ;D
