The effect of fine mist on a notebook display
« on: September 25, 2016, 10:48:12 pm »
So interesting !   I am seating on the shore of Lake Superior, at a B&B in Duluth.   Late afternoon.  A fine mist moved in.    Some small droplets cling to the ThinkPad screen.   They act as micro magnifying lenses and depending on the pixel where they land, these bright color spots shows up, mostly intense cyan or reddish.   I had never experienced it!   Very interesting!

I've sneezed on my screen and had it do the same thing. :P

You're looking at the subpixels magnified.

It's a shame you can't make fresnels using a liquid (unless it's very thick) on a sheet of glass.  "Spray on fresnel" nozzles :)
