Actually - this would make an excellent shoe for people with all kinds of neurological and/or orthopedic and/or back pain problems. It would have been an excellent shoe to sell at a podiatrist shop (you know - the ones that sell strange German insoles for $100 or more - or weird shoes - or Birkenstocks). This is assuming it has palpable advantages over Velcro and slip-ons - perhaps in running or exercising.

But given it is on Nike's menu - it will lose out in the ability of a mass marketer to have a niche line that makes a piddling. Perhaps a good shoe with decent market potential but made by the wrong company.

CEO's cut these types of products as an act of "refocusing" - unless they are able to make a lasting marketing impression (which would require Phil Knight to parachute a decision to continue making the shoe).

Yes the guy posesses the necessary attributes for a successful blogger - look like shit, talk like shit and employ disruptive videomsking techniques when it hits you right between the eyes with constant bleeping , shaky camera and unrelated inserts.
