Couldn't Resist buying one for that price.

It should be fun taking it apart!

"Supports 1080i/720P/576P/480P/576i/480i signals, *native resolution 640x480,compatible with 1024x768. Supports HD."

Lol, perhaps some clueless person will think it's HD.

"7."Green product", no radiation & pollution"

Perhaps that's because it's made from recycled parts?

Couldn't Resist buying one for that price.
Price is incredibly low, but is not worth it in economic terms:
Purchase cost ~$20. Entertainment/resale/scrap value ~$0.
It should be fun taking it apart!
I doubt about fun part. Dave has already done a teardown of cheap projector on episode #671. Expect this to be even worse.

Ok, let's see.

"no radiation"
"no bulb to replace"
"with upgraded lighting system 50,000+ hours"

It would seem that it completely lacks a light source and they're putting the best possible spin on it.  :-)

Economic sense? Really? This isn't a car or some other major purchase, I couldn't even buy the cords it comes with for $19aud at my local electronics shop, have you considered some people actively enjoy taking thing apart to examine their construction? Anyway, it costs less than a six pack of beer.

All factually true.

The fact that it doesn't have a light bulb doesn't mean it doesn't have a light source. They mentioned "LED" in the title for a reason.

I think you misunderstood me. You can buy this item if you like, maybe you will have some fun tearing it down/repairing it. It is cheap after all.
I just mentioned that cheap, poor quality and stripped down for the cost item is not as fun for use or teardown as proper unit.

Fair enough, I have zero expectations anyway, I'll be happy if it powers up. I just want to take it apart for the sake of curiosity and to find out how much effect goes into the $19 POS.

I ordered one, I used to have one for Halloween (yup I dropped it and broke the bulb). Anyway shine it on the curtains from behind with a few creepy images and there you go.

Stuff like this is a bit of a gamble but I do buy things to play with. When the little kids come over load up a screen saver and set it on the floor shining on a sheet and you have a cool pirate ship. I prefer this to the "singing wall trout" any day.

So to sony mavica, thanks.

I'm more impressed by the 27$ android car radio/dvd/whatever. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Android-4-2-2-OS-2-DIN-Car-DVD-Player-E1-Radio-Stereo-GPS-Navigation-Wifi-1080p-/271719199463) Similar products seems to be sold for alot more!  :-//
Anyways, I have brought one. It could be useful for many projects if it actually does all the things the listing states!  :-+

Look at the other stuff from that seller, looks like all prices are a factor 10 too low. That projector sells for around $200 at other places.

I saw something similar, not quite that cheap, and found some teardown pics.
basically what it consisted of was a QVGA LCD panel with no rear reflector, a white LED, and some fresnel lenses.
e.g.

Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

They are just awful quality.

Ebay, really just another form of gambling. As long as you are aware of the dangers. Paypal gives you some security.

I picked up my microscope off ebay (Canadian company) and it works excellent and was a good price. So not problem there. I picked up an unbranded 720p LED projector (China) 6 months ago for 330 bucks and it works quite well. Have seen better but not for that amount of money. The down side is that if the gear develops a fault warranty would be a big issue.

also this seem to be really cheap too
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SJ4000-Black-12MP-HD-1080P-Car-Cam-Sports-DV-Action-Waterproof-Camera-2x-Battery-/201249354336?pt=AU_Video_Cameras&hash=item2edb657260

Just as long as you expect to get a fake.

It is interesting that they show two different cameras. One WiFi and one not. Also they don't show the accessories such as the waterproof case which is a dead giveaway for the fake.

yeah i don't care if its a fake camcorder or just a crap fake SJ4000 for the price it would be ok but i think the listing might be a scam???

I put a smiley in there for a reason too.  It was a joke.

But you probably know that already.

A 640x480 LCD module alone can cost more than $19... even from China.

A 640x480 projector usually costs 10x more, so I would beware of scam, but there's always the possibility they've messed up their decimal point.

That is a more reasonable price.

If it works, and is easy to open/repair - go for it.
Even as a static 'server status' display or miniature reverse-projection Santa bauble - it's worth $19

Not everything has to be a Bentley or Veyron.

Just enjoy it for what it is - like your kids.
Some of them won't turn out to be Kate Upton or Einstein either.
Don't ask a question if you aren't willing to listen to the answer.

It probably beats hands down that expensive TV that my parents had when I was a kid.  ;-)
