I can't count the hundreds or thousands of hours I spent on those machines... there is still a romantic nostalgia when I hear the head spin up!

Is that a VR1200, or a 2000.  And what are those gaudy red transport control buttons?

I have no problem relating to your attachment to those machines.
What they went through to in order to make video recording possible is amazing.

I also spent some years in front of three of these beasts, and still remember the day when the Bearing air failed.
The head flew out of the machine and embedded itself in the wall opposite. That was an underware changing moment.

That memory is brought to you by the HS-100 slo-mo disk...
When I first joined the battle, there was a 'blinkenlight' warning stuck on the HS-100 stack. Warning that if the platters were spinning, it was probably not a good idea to disrupt said spinning with a sudden jolt!
