What are you listening to (music wise)?
« on: December 07, 2011, 08:46:56 pm »
OK, so I thought I'd start "one of those threads" on here. I love discovering new music and broadening my musical taste. I'd be interested in what other people listen to.

Here are my top 5 for this week.

1. Now we are Free - Lisa Gerrard
2. Circadians - Protoculture (a South African psytrance outfit)
3. Crush - Pendulum (a proper drum 'n bass band from that there Australia)
4. Starting Over - Killswitch Engage
5. Alias - In Flames

List your top five of the week if you care.

for Western singer, i will not hesitate to buy the new album if i come across...
1) Dido
2) Michael Learns to Rock
3) Enya
4) Enigma

or maybe...
1) boyzone
2) blue
3) 911
things like that.

ok dont laugh, i'm kinda of "on the soft side guy" but i do occasionally listen to hiphop and pop, but cant name the specific singers maybe The Black Eyed Peas, PIMP, coolio etc. the most regretted bought album... eminem! but his latest duet "i need a doctor" is kinda cool, maybe he improved. heavy metal just dont tuned up very well with the filter in my cerebral cortex :P but lately i seldomly listen to music anymore.

hehe - it is quite funny that Michael Learns to Rock is so famous in Asia. They are Danish and in Denmark they are not that famous. :-) You meet them at the local bars in Copenhagen and no-one bats an eyelid. (unless an Asian tourist bus passes by)

My music ranges from Rammstein & Kraftwerk to Led Zeppelin and old blues-(jazz) like Django Reinhart. Rammstein is only really good if you understand german ...

I'm pretty random, but yesterday I was listening to Meatloaf ("Bat out of hell" album), and Vixy ("The Girl That's Never Been", and "Mal's Song" in particular.)

Werewolves of London

Awooo!  Heh, there's a bit of overlap going on here; the CDs I have in the car at the moment are:
 • A Quiet Normal Life: The Best of Warren Zevon (I need to find some of his post-Asylum stuff sometime)
 • Tom Waits's Swordfishtrombones, although since that's been in there for almost a month now I might change which album I have in the Waits slot tomorrow
 • Rod Stewart's Atlantic Crossing, which I decided to spin again after hearing of Dobie Gray's death earlier this week (since it includes Stewart's version of Drift Away)
 • Matchbox Twenty's Yourself or Someone Like You
... although to be honest I haven't had time to sit down and listen to anything properly in a few weeks so I've got a bit of a backlog going on.  Sitting on the coffee table at home for this weekend are the SuperHeavy album, Caro Emerald's Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor, and a recording of the Symphonie Fantastique.  I might also dig out System Of A Down's eponymous debut just in case the project I'll be working on turns out to be a failure again!

I agree, I am not too fussy with my choice of music , but it must be good, that is all. If it's rubbish then I don't like it.

This must be the fourth topic about music likes, in the history of EEV ( last two years).
And so this time my vote will be national, even if my play-list is truly huge.  :)

I like your topic, but this is not a Bill Board forum or the American Top 40 Musics.  I like to listen to various songs from the early 1980's like Its Immaterial singing "Driving Away from Home," Nazareth, "Love Hurts" from the 1975, or  Natalie Imbruglia, Australian musician, singing "Wrong Impression:"

There is Seals, "Love Divine."  The Guns and Roses in "November Rain" has an interesting and non flowing ending.

Here is a classic, Petula Clark, "Kiss Me Goodbye," circa 1968:

What is your most unusual multimeter?  Mines is a $68.00 pocket solar battery powered multimeter and the Smart Probe are all most unusual, out of the ordinary multimeter.   My Fluke 12 finally broke, non responsive keyboard after a decade of use.

Love Hurts by Nazareth is a classic IMO.....

Going back to 1971...This tune  has been in my head for years and thanks to the internet i have found it....I think my father bought the single back then...I played it continuiously  on our old stereogram...The  B side i think was better (Stone Cross)...

I will return by Springwater (the late Phil Cordell)

To bring some youth into this thread, listen to the following  ;)

One of the most beautifully sung songs:

This guy remixes sounds he records while visiting different countries:

Coolest music video:

Love this guy's voice:

This guy's a math proff at UofT. Interesting beat, but the vid is boring:

PS how do you post embed youtube videos on this forum? ( doesn't work?)
