<< You don't have to translate the music. It just affects you and you don't know why >> -- David Byrne.

What the hell, some of my favorites:

   Chris Isaak.
(Roberta Flack version) - The first time i ever saw your face.
Gino Paoli - Il cielo in una stanza.
Jim Croce - Time in a bottle.
George Michael - I Can't Make You Love Me.
   Depeche Mode.
   American native flute music.
   Jimi Hendrix.
Björk - All is Full of Love.
   Armin van Buuren.
Héroes Del Silencio - La Chispa Adecuada.
Jean Michel Jarre - Equinoxe Infinity.

And a lot more, please ...
My English can be pretty bad, so suggestions are welcome. ;)

For some reason when I read the question I thought of Jean Michele Jarre. Funny you should mention him.

I like a lot of different kinds of 'electronic' music.

I like a little bit of organ as well:

David Bowie - Ashes to ashes
Simple Minds - Don't you forget about me
Paul Young - Wherever I lay my hat
The Neville Brothers - Bird On A Wire
Commodores - Nightshift

Actually the last one is more vocal than organ.

At the dayjob, it's mostly metal (we have a *really* good internal mail list that's always got plenty of suggestions).

Concentrating it's deep house / trance / etc. (One suggestion, the "music for programming" podcast does some great ambient stuff.

When I'm banging out some CAD or a KiCad project, I like to jam to some Progressive Electro House / Chillwave / Chillstep.

Same here, although I've switched almost exclusively to synthwave and chillwave. It's like my brain phase-locks to the music, and house music is too fast. Youtube users 'Asthenic' and 'NewRetroWave' put out some very good mixes. Droid Bishop and Com Truise are on rotation too, I particularly like this video:

Tangerine Dream - The Warsaw Concert

Good for nearly a couple of hours after which I'll probably put White Eagle on. I can't work if the background music has vocals, it distracts me.

All the EE I know love Dreamtheater:

Dream Theater, Pull Me Under

I often perform some air drumming solo when the hot soldering iron still smokes.

Let's setup a Spotify "EE Soldering" Playlist.

During Desing or R&D, Mozart is the best and it will always be for ever and ever. Amen.

Classical music, especially Baroque and Contemporary.
Just now I'm listening to: Ulrich Leyendecker, Symphony No 3.

Other music I love listening: Glass, Nyman, Reich, Krono Quartet, Murcof, Richter, Jóhannsson, ...
but even SOME dubstep and jungle!

Tangerine Dream is good work music (both computer and electronics) for me also. I also prefer instrumental music, classical+new music, etc. for the same reason.

I mainly listen to Radio Paradise while working... a good eclectic mix of music that suits my middle-aged tastes.

Sometimes, I just want talk so will then listen to Science360 Radio.

Not in any particular order, Robin and Linda Williams (Not THAT Robin Williams), Enya, Sukay, Trampled by Turtles are kind of my go-to list, but I have a bunch of other stuff, too.

Cage the Elephant ("Thank you happy birthday" album) right now, but I'm plumbing not doing "e-" work.
Well it actually takes a little consideration about how to not create batteries or at least create them in the way they'll destroy the less expensive parts...

Amazing, I loved it!
But I'd swear I'd heard something like that before, but from another artist.

Yesterday I found this channel:

It's not what it looks like (It's not trance music):

Like many here, I prefer silence while I'm doing something that actually requires concentration. Reading, analysis, etc. I'll occasionally put on some Coltrane or Bach to drown out extraneous noise if there's something distracting going on nearby. Instrumental music doesn't seem to prevent me from focusing. I admit to avoiding vocal music when I really need to bear down. How others can puzzle things out with heavily-compressed, often-distorted talk radio going on in the background is baffling to me.

For more physical and less cerebral shop work, repetitive things like hammer and nails, stripping wire, cleanup, tearing down boxes... well, one has to stay motivated and on task. There are many ways to skin a cat.
