What books are burning You retina from Your Kindle?

I`m just wondering what books are being read by the others on the forum.. maybe we can share some good reading and tip each other off what are out there..

My list, i read several books for the moment:

1.Troubleshooting Analog Circuits by Robert A. Pease, a trill, a chest of knowledge, fun and experience from a fellow Aspie. A must for everybody who has to work with any electronic trubleshooting or construction.
A torrent download.. PDF format  but paperback can be found to..
http://www.amazon.com/Troubleshooting-Analog-Circuits-Design-Engineers/dp/0750694998/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1325465307&sr=1-1-catcorr

  • A little PS on Robert Pease:
He designed several very successful "best-seller" integrated circuits, these include the LM331 voltage to frequency converter, and the LM337 adjustable voltage regulator.

He wrote the book: How to Drive Into Accidents ... and How Not To (1998) Pease Pub ISBN 978-0965564816 — An idiosyncratic, entertaining, and insightful book on safe driving techniques, written for novices and experienced drivers alike..
The bitter irony was that Pease was killed in the crash of his 1969 Volkswagen Beetle, on June 18, 2011.

2.TO THE MOON - Untold Stories of the Space Race (Moonwalkers(tm)) by Getter, John
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004T3GZF8/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

3.Apollo by Cox, Catherine Bly, Charles Murray
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003KN3Z4M/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

4. Computers In Spaceflight
: The NASA Experience by James Tomayko
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001T4YUI4/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

5. Knocking on Heaven's Door: How Physics and Scientific Thinking Illuminate the Universe and the Modern World  by Lisa Randall
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XVN8EC/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

6.Ordinary Geniuses: Max Delbruck, George Gamow, and the Origins of Genomics andBig Bang Cosmology by Gino   Segre
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004IYJEQ0/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

7.The Quantum Story : A history in 40 moments  Jim Baggott
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ZX3KQO/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

8 A Walk In The Woods
by Bill Bryson   Bryson never let a reader down.. just read: A Short History of Nearly Everything, its just page after page of fantastic reading about science and the people behind it!
http://www.amazon.com/Walk-Woods-ebook/dp/B0035OC826/ref=sr_1_4?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1325465669&sr=1-4
http://www.amazon.com/Short-History-Nearly-Everything-ebook/dp/B0035OC7VI/ref=pd_sim_kinc_6?ie=UTF8&m=A19GEMKTSHS1KO

On the  wish list: Flying the SR-71 Blackbird: In the Cockpit on a Secret Operational Mission
Richard H. Graham and  Jay K. Miller
http://www.amazon.com/Flying-SR-71-Blackbird-Operational-ebook/dp/B004NNUY7O/ref=pd_rhf_ee_shvl4

And, if i read a good book, i always go on Amazon, and find the book in the Kindle shop, and read the Most Helpful Customer Reviews, they always point out simular good books and autors.

And a happy new year..from Norway.. :)

Don't own a Kindle but...

Not for the faint of heart.

Pease's book is a great read; a favorite in my personal library.

The book I'm reading now is Freakonomics. I also store a bunch of PDF application notes (I like long ones, specially Microchip's and National's), important datasheets and some other PDF textbooks and tutorials. Currently, I  am going back to the classic analog ICs and refining my analog electronics skills in general.

Edit and expansion: I wish Amazon had more engineering textbooks in Kindle format. The same goes for Latin American and Spanish literature, specially for 20th century novels, like the ones by Julio Cortázar.

I'm reading a compilation of something I used to read back when I was young called "the Bastard Operator From Hell" it's pretty funny

a couple of others I've got on the go

Analog Circuit Design: A Tutorial Guide to Applications and Solutions: Bob Dobkin and Jim Williams

Lucky: Alice Sebold

The Internet Is a Playground: David Thorne - very funny, mainly emails berating people from that www.27bslash6.com site

I mostly just put my EPElectronics and other magazines on it with a nice large collection of back issues
and there is a hell of alot of reference material like the famous the art of electronics and so on
I learned more from the EEVBlog than I did in school

That's a easy one to answer, not good at all.. a tablet is way better to use. faster and better controll of scroll etc. All depends on the pdf file and how dense the schematic is drawn.

Kindle is for reading letters.. books. period. And it does that very good indeed.

datasheets are fantastic on mine you just have to zoom in to read them, same with most PDFs
as I said, I usually read my magazines on it.

well you can see for yourself...

Well.. as i said, depends on how dense the schema is drawn.. some things work, but for the most not.
On old schematics of Sony amps, and not to metion B&O schematics just give up.. 300% is max i can zoom in.  And following a connection true lets say 6 scrolls is just not working.
But again, small sheets, and not to dense, it works.

Its useless for the most, and can be blown up to 300%, but scrolling and getting any sense out of things is just waist of time on the things that i work with.

Books in PDF are OK as long as they are clear and good scanned, best is pdf of a digital conetent. Not scanned books with fuzzy letters and a lot of gray shadows.

But, hey, if it works for You, its great!  ;)

A tip for pdf, is if its just text and difficult to read and needs zooming in etc, use Calibre or Google to export the pdf to a text file.

sorry, it seems like I was arguing against what you had written but I had left my message window open and I hadn't seen what you had written when I posted my reply to the OP

but yeah those complicated schematics won't render too well as you've shown so I don't even bother, but general datasheets for stuff like an op-amp or something are pretty good on it. it has saved time when I've been unable to get onto the net/computer and I've had a datasheet handy

No problem, what so ever !   ;)

Kindle is a great tool, i travel a lot, even do i sit in a wheelchair, i go to Egypt and diving several times a year.
On the plane down, its a 5 hour flight, i often See people with ipads, that after a while go short on oomph from the battery.
That's where the kindle shines, battery time. Besides it got free Internet and free connection to wispernet in over 100 contryies. I staid for 14 days in Egypt in august, lay on the Beach every day reading, and dint charge it once on my trip. Besides, on the airport, 2 minutes before check-in, i read a book review in the newspaper, and in less than 2 minutes had bought it and got in my Kindle ready to be read!

Thanks all. From the pictures above, simple datasheets are readable for me.
Sure, exceptions can be found, but I have a PC and a 22 inch monitor for these corner cases.

I wish Amazon had more engineering textbooks in Kindle format.

Quite a few publications by Wiley-IEEE are making it to the Kindle format. These are more on the level of professional/graduate-level engineering and prices are still outright ludicrous. To be frank about the situation, even if all the bugs and quirks were worked out, I find that digital formats are still a supplement rather than a replacement for a proper book.

Just got a Kobo Touch and have being reading Steven Kings 11/22/63 So far he has stolen 3 days of my freetime and I'm only half way through. An unsettling tale, which to explain to anyone I would have to be as slightly mad as the man himself, get it and have your senses and logic beaten into submission in the sure knowledge that at the end of the book you will have more questions than answers.AS always an awesome read.
Machines were mice and Men were lions once upon a time, but now that it's the opposite it's twice upon a time.

Is it true that a kindle fire from USA won't work in the UK?
