Where are my sent messages?

I have been corresponding with folks on here for years, all of a sudden my sent messages are POOF gone, where the F are they? All my received messages are still there but none of the relevant sent messages? Can an admit tell me what the hell is going on?

Doesn't the forum erase them after a year or something?  Mine have been gone a long time.

My sent messages are all (?, at least back to 2013) still there, but I noticed that the 'thread' style presentation has been broken for the older ones.

No. Mine are all there going back to 2013.

My oldest sent messages are gone.  I remember looking for them at one point to find something I wrote and discovering them to be missing.

I just assumed that the forum removes them after so long, presumably to save resources.

There is a checkbox below the text box: "Save a copy in my outbox"

I only remembered to check that box one time, a couple years ago, and that message is the only one in my sent items.

Ironically, there is no outbox that I could find. Another forum actually has an outbox, where messages will sit until the recipient opens them, and then move to sent items.
