Where to buy good capacitors online?

Not sure if i trust Ebay sellers...I have heard a lot about counterfeit caps being sold.
I recently heard of Badcaps.net, are they any good?

If you want to reduce your chances of getting counterfeit junk, stick with one of the established electronics distributors, like Mouser, DigiKey, Allied, Newark, etc.

They get their stock directly from the manufacturer, so there is much less chance to end up with "One Hung Low" caps when you wanted Rubycon, Panasonic, Nippon ChemiCon, etc.

The poll doesn't make any sense.

Use www.findchips.com or www.octopart.com to get to the main distributors N2IXK mentioned, at least you'll get a good comparative pricing in one single page.

No problems with Badcaps, as well any big distributor like digikey, mouser, farnell will do. No ebay or aliexpress and other dubious sources, they are not faulty but counterfeit.

None of the listed poll options sells direct to customers (at least, if you want less than ten million of something).

You forgot Nichicons in your poll.  They are usually at the top for reliability.
Do the job right the first time.  Quality over quantity will save you in the long run.

The poll is only asking which is the most reliable brand of capacitors.  Where does it say distributors or sellers?

"Where to buy good capacitors online?"

Or was the subject just something to get people to click on a thread about something else?  :scared:

Otherwise, point being, stick to the major brands and don't buy crap off eBay.

It's very simple, buy your caps from major distributors such as Digikey, mouser, etc and not from Ebay.  If you buy caps on ebay you'll often end up with fake chinese caps and a pile of shit in your next project or repair.

ChongX are some of the crappiest caps you can find in equipment.  They take 2nd place after CrapX as the worst ones. Fail all the time. Samxcon are also venting or drying out often.

Crapxon is not too bad compared to Chongx and many others like Evercon, GSC. Difference is that CapXons are often used in what you could call quality equipment but ChongX in Chinese knockoffs and similar cheap stuff. As for samxons they are good capacitors except GF and GL series made in mid 2000's. To be fair, around that time, Nichicon HM, HN, Nippon chemi-con KZG, KZJ and Rubycon MCZ series had serious issues too. Difference is that those series of Samxons were used mostly in LCD monitors but Nichicon, chemi-con and Rubycon in PC motherboards. Therefore the same people often don't see both kinds of them to fail.

I buy Panasonic or Rubycon from Farnell, I seem to like Pansonic caps the best but that's my personal preference.

Based on my experience, all caps shipped from China and Hk are counterfeit. On Ebay those shipped from Germany or South Korea and Japan are genuine.

A good source of capacitors that is not that expensive I know is Jianghai, a formal Chinese military capacitor supplier, they have parallel of Chemicon product line (except for solid state caps) with very similar both rated and measured performance.
Sorry, but IMO they are crap. I've seen quiet a few of APC UPS (they use a lot of Jianghai) where most of Jianghai capacitors were faulty while any other capacitor brand present on the PCB was fine.

As above, depends under what conditions they were used. I've seen 105C Rubycon and Chemi-con caps vent on computer motherboards. Combination of high ambient temps and thousands of hours of high-ripple current SMPS load. On the same boards there were lesser brand caps that were fine, because they were under virtually no load.

Can you share a bit more info? Are you sure they are not under specified? Eg. a 2000 hrs, 85C SKU is used in high heat area, or similar design faults?
No they were not under specified. They were small value caps (<100uF) failing all over the PCB, it's not like they were stressed.
