Someone suggested doing a montage of clips were I've said "you can fly to the moon on..."
I think that would be kinda funny.
I can't recall what videos I've said this, but maybe I could crowd source this?
Can anyone recall the video numbers (and time mark if possible) where I have said this?

I guess you could download the captions for each video (hopefully youtube speech-to-text will understand your accent :scared: ) - then search the text file for "moon" and "fly" - should be able to grab most of them.
YouTube Caption Downloader: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-caption-downloader/
I guess you could write some sort of script for it to speed up the process.

Youtube caption very famously sucks arse with the Australian accent!

EEVblog #99 part 2 ($100 shootout) at 32:16 wrt to the Ideal 61-342 using 5.5mA.
Yes, I have watched the $100 multimeter shootout a lot of times. I can't wait for the next one!

Maybe this one?

Usually I've noticed you use it in reference to something with a horrible quiescent (is that how it's spelled?) current or something that draws mA rather than uA when idle.
Or is that the only thing you use that phrase for?

Anything that pisses away current unnecessarily.

Fly to the moon on gossamer wings, it was just one of those things...

It's not quite good with my American Bostonian accent either.

70 watts. You should call the montage that.
-
Any others?
I'd be surprised if there weren't at least double digits.
-
You should have a tally in the corner that totals up the waste that you uncovered.
-
Have you really said it so many times? I only remember a couple.

"You could fly half way to the moon on 4 mW"
At 5:15

I did a search for "standby" which I suspect probably mentions more than one trip to the moon.

This one is the one I'm looking for with the above search, which of course contains a 6.5 W trip to the moon at 2:15.

This concept could btw be expanded to other Dave-isms (or I guess really, aussie slang.)

Hi Dave,
would like to see you reviewing a modern Rohde & Schwarz device. Belive me, i use analyzers like the ZVL13, FSP7 and generators like the SMA100A couple times per year. I don't want to know how much standby power they consume. The waste of energy even is signallized by an indicator LED near the power button. :D For luck they have a real power breaking switch at their back near the IEC input.

Feels that way. I have a feeling it's at the very least a half dozen.
-
I think it's mentioned more often in the Amp Hour. Wasn't it part of the amphour bingo?

Just found one in http://youtu.be/watch?v=ZoeUgMFLyAw&t=45m20s (http://youtu.be/watch?v=ZoeUgMFLyAw&t=45m20s)
BTW how is the new multimeter shootout coming along?

On a related note, it's a really good teardown! Thanks! :-+
