[SOLVED] Component 3d perspective view
« on: September 30, 2017, 04:52:51 pm »
Hi all,

Damned if I can find it but is there a way to toggle perspective view on/off when looking at boards or components in 3D?

Really useful to look at parts with 3D switched off, when importing step files, to ensure all pins etc line up properly.

Also, is there any way to enable the LMB or center scroll wheel button to rotate views in 3D? Annoying as hell to have to press shift.

Thanks
Andy

In 3D view, right click, select "Options" > "Board Layers and Colors", select Projection as "Perspective" or "Orthographic".

Scroll wheel would only give rotation control in one plane.
Google maps etc. require shift to be held down to select rotation rather than lateral movement.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut "f" to flip the board.

Visually lining things up?  That sounds really sloppy -- did they remove the "Add snap points" option?  (In AD16, 3D view: T,B,A)

Also '0' for a top-down view of the board.

Thanks all,

I will investigate snap points but so far lining up a pin in a hole works really well when adding a 3d body to a part.
