Title: importing eagle 5 files into CS
Post by: Simon on November 20, 2017, 03:28:23 pm
I am designing a new PCB that will sit with some units designed by a subcontractor using eagle 5. Now it becomes obvious that putting the other 2 units onto the same PCB would mean 1 PCB and not 3 and a lot of cost saving (PCB tooling and PnP setups). I have tried importing his PCB files but CS seems to want a project file whereas I think with this version of eagle it only has a schematic and PCB file. Is there a way of doing this ?

Have you run the addon to allow importing?

Default dir: C:\Program Files (x86)\Altium\CS\System\Installation

TeighaX_Setup_3.9.0.msi

I have the eagle importer installed, is this an additional one? or am I doing something wrong in the import?

If you haven't run this addon, it won't work. After that you should be able to import SCH, BRD and LIB files from Eagle.

I believe CS requires Eagle files to be version 6 or newer. Version 5 are binary files whilst V6 onwards are XML.

So you need to open the V5 file in Eagle 6 or later and re-save.....then should import into CS just fine. BRD and SCH files.
