Price of Circuit Studio
« on: December 21, 2017, 07:00:53 pm »
What is the current UK price of Circuit Studio?

On the Altium web site it is listed as $495:
http://www.altium.com/circuitstudio/how-buy
But Farnell have it as £805 + VAT
https://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-73745?rd=Circuit%2BStudio

I know there was a previous thread of it at "half-price", if that has ended why does Altium still advertise it at $495?

EDIT - to answer my own question - when I click on the link on the Altium page it takes me to a Farnell price of £375 + VAT
Very confusing!

it is (supposed to be) a cross upgrade (so switching from another tool) - but I do not think anyone will complain. :)

If the other tool is allowed to be KiCAD then it would be difficult not to comply - I've downloaded KiCAD and several trial versions of other tools so I would argue that I am a user (sort of).

If it requires the previous active purchase of another tool then I probably don't qualify - though I'd be surprised if they refused my money.

No proof of purchase was mentioned on a page....

And none needed. This limited time offer has been running for almost a year now.
IMO Farnell/Element14 sucks, I suggest downloading the software and purchase the license from within the application, hopefully that will give you the same price.

Circuit Studio is currently on the Newark website for download for US$495. No cross grade CAD software required. Looks like they listed to Dave who stated that US$3500 was far too much for this product.

The original price was ludicrous.
Keep the price at US$495, make it fully two way file compatible with Altium Designer, and they own the market for low end and mid/high end ECAD. It's not rocket science.
I tried to tell this when I worked at the company 10 years ago, but they wouldn't listen.
