Any estimates on how long Carlos will take to lose that smile???   :-//

I would guess about 6 months! :-DD :-DD

Congratulations Carlos.  :-+ :-+

Edit: Is Carlos's wife becoming jealous - he seems to be getting rather affectionate with the new 'love' in his life?  :palm:

I wouldn't even want to hazard a guess on that one.

Some people might wonder about this shot...

.... but they won't be among the members here!

This is the money shot, though:

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

I am stuck in the machine shop all this week and through the weekend dealing with mechanical parts of all things. A brand new Keysight 6Ghz scope shows up and I am spending all my time in the machine shop? Ahhhhh, I have an idea....take the scope to the shop. Field trip.

Buckled up the new toy, and off to the shop we go. These units have a dual channel ARB and training signals to explore the capabilities of the scope. I also have some cameras there and thought it would be appropriate that the first signal this scope sees is from one of the cameras we used on Star Wars Episode III back in 2004 - Sony HDC-F950. It provided a reasonably brisk signal as HD-SDI at 1.485Gbps.

Here is the first signal. We mainly use 3Gbps HD-SDI these days and going even faster in the near future. This camera outputs Dual Link which is 2 separate serial streams that are combined although I only connected one stream just to fiddle around with the triggers and measurements. Only had about 30min to play today.  :scared:

For car transport, I think both straps of the seatbelt should have gone over the front of the scope.  A baby seat might be an improvement, but I think a baby capsule would be the best solution.

Also, it is important to check that the air bag is disabled so it does not deploy and crush the scope in case of an accident. Personally, I only drive my scopes around in the back seat, safely strapped into a backwards facing seat.

Yes!  That's the same principle from my suggestion about a baby capsule.

You can't be too careful!

Same here with any kind of equipment.
One of my teachers used to serve in the navy and he told us the basic rules on a ship: what walks gets a greeting, what is fixed to the ship gets painted, whatever is lose gets tied up firmly. From my own experience: whatever isn't tied up in a car goes flying even at the mildest emergency stop.

I should be back in the electronics part of life on Saturday. An unusual wave of business popped up and is consuming all available hours. This is a great problem to have since it is needed to fund future projects and active probes.

I will be tired, but having fun. Working on minimum sleep, maximum stress. The joy of small business ownership.

Sent from my horrible mobile....
