Larson Scanner 2021
« on: March 15, 2021, 02:02:12 pm »
Made simple larson scanners for a few years now, sold hundreds but always wanted to do more with them.
Some customers used them as indicators in alarm systems, in kids toys, as early warning pedestrian protection device (yeah!) and countless other applications.
But the very basic design, single color LED, no interaction capability etc was limiting creative ideas to the absolute minimum implementation possible,

So, it was time to redesign LS and create LS2021!
LS2021 has the same board dimensions and appearance but its a totally different beast.
Instead of a smaller attiny like the 13/25/402 I used in the past, it now has an attiny3216.
Instead of 20 single color LED, it now has 16 RGB Addressable LED (WS2812C for lower power).
LS2021 also has a button, a microphone, I2C temp sensor (LM75B) & an ambient light sensor (OPT3001).
There is also access to spare GPIO (including UART, I2C, DAC).
It is very easy to program using its UPDI pin which is also going to the USB port's D+ pin and i have an optional programmer adapter using the same connection so its very easy to program even if the board is inside an enclosure.

My arduino-ish is terrible with mosfet accent  :-DD :-DD :-DD :-DD :-DD
.. i actually learned a lot working on LS2021.. Lots of fun...
and still working on code for few applications i want to use LS2021 for, with the help of friends for sure..
so, no matter how the campaign ends, the learning process is a price on its own...
