Outsourcing the development for a real app can be quite costly. Just for fun I used the http://howmuchtomakeanapp.com/ and got an approximate cost of $60K.  Even if this probably is inflated a bit it will still probably end up at $10-20K...

I meant "prototype" not a release candidate but just a proof of concept.

Edit: I might add, by someone that wants to promote an idea so labor is not really a thing, unless they don't have the skills then the whole concept is flawed.

We charge out software development and consultancy at £1250/day if that's any comparison. And we've been told that's quite reasonable!
