PCBGRIP Vise
« on: May 04, 2017, 01:22:55 pm »
First, thank you to those who have supported us previously.  There have been quite a few of you from this forum and your support is greatly appreciated.

I started PCBGRIP a few years ago because I was wanted a tool that would not only hold a PCB but would also help hold components or probe holders too.  As we expand our product offering, we have just launched a crowdfunding campaign for our PCBGRIP Vise.  Similar to our larger systems, this vise will not only hold your PCB, can can also help hold components and probe holders too.  We wanted to make a tool that was smaller than our existing product and have designed a ‘FlatBall’ that allows our vise to be attached to the popular PanaVise® Model 201 base.  The vise is rugged, made of aluminum with stainless hardware, adjust quickly, and will withstand high temperatures.  Precut polyimide (an insulator that withstands high temperatures) tape will be provided for the vise faces if there is concern about electrical isolation.

Here is the link to the Kickstarter:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2065435222/pcbgrip-vise-panavise-model-201-base-compatible

The campaign provides more details of the vise, its design and construction, and some videos of it in action.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your support,
Jason

Looks promising, that thumb adjustment knob looky janky, and knuckle scraping close to the other mountings though.

I saw this earlier today when doing some research about buying a Panavise.  I had a couple questions for you.

* Will this work with the other Panavise bases outside of the 201?
* With the 150mm OpenBeam, what is the maximum PCB size you can fit?

Thanks!

1. The FlatBall we have designed will mount to the 201 base.  It will work with the 203, 207, and 209 too.  All of those vises use the same vise head.  The PCBGRIP Vise is also fully compatible with our existing PCB holding system;
2. With a 150mm length of OpenBeam, the maximum PCB size is 87mm.  OpenBeam is available in lengths of up to 1,000mm.

Thanks!
Jason
