Projecta PCB magic making CNC machine
« on: August 22, 2016, 11:25:04 pm »
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/intmindsco/projecta-the-ultimate-solution-for-the-pcb-printin

This looks super dicey with a 2 minute pass through the Kickstarter page and intro video. They are only seeking to raise $50k - what can you do with $50k? Not much at all. Another CNC PCB making machine.

Step one:
Cover your clad board with magic marker

Step two:
put in machine:

Step three:
Wait for it to magically do something behind an opaque case where you cant see anything.

Nuts.

Super dicey indeed.  They probably have no idea how to commerically manufacture something.
I'm pretty sure these guys are from Egypt (Alexandria University*) not New York or Bangalore.

So they are selling 550$ cnc engraver that will scrape off some marker paint...

This can be done with any cheap cnc or 3d printer:

A cheaper option:

Or they are using laser to remove marker paint like this:

EDIT:
They are not... I rechecked photos on the kickstarter and I'm sure it's just a cheap engraver...

You still have to drill it.
No mention of dual sided
No mention of accuracy or minimum pitch

I've tried both lazer removal of various paints/pens and I've also tried the CNC approach. I couldn't get either to work better than about 0.3mm
