It is very rare to see a project about an infrared thermal camera on kickstarter.com. This is the only one right now live and seek backers for support. It will come to production if the goal is met at the end of the campaign.

Fotric 123 is a smart infrared thermal camera for visual early fire detection, plus other functions such as motion detection.  It can detect abnormal heat and send out the visual early fire alert to the smartphone wherever there is internet. It has motion detection capability and can also be used as a surveillance IP camera to improve the security of properties.

The price is attractive for a smart infrared thermal camera. 3 easy steps to set up and user-friendly. Once plugged with an ethernet cable, it will automatically configure the internet connection and no worry about complicated manual settings.

The camera is connected to the phone through the cloud service and works similar to some security cameras but with thermal image or video.

It could be available in the market starting April 2017 if the campaign is successful. Can you help back the project to make it come true? Thanks.

With only 50 degree FOV, you're going to need a few to cover just one room, and even then it will only see things that aren't obscured.
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

But... What if my wireless access point, router or modem catches on fire?! How can it alert me?!

What if the cloud catches on fire?!?! You could put these cameras inside your cloud data center and then have them send alerts through a second, redundant cloud, I guess... But what if that catches fire too?!
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic; e.g., Cheez Whiz, Hot Dogs and RF.

hi mike, this is a good question :-+ Thanks. For the application of early fire detection and motion detection, the behavior recognition is more focused than the detail information. Picking up 50 degree FOV is a trade off in the design after considering lots of factors such as resolution, IFOV, cost, etc. This could be adjusted in the next generation if it turns out larger FOV has better performance for these applications.

"Hey, our product may not be appropriate, but we'll sell some anyway and let buyers tell us if it works for them!"

What's happened to actually figuring out the requirements of a product correctly before launching it?  :palm:
Figuring out whether 50° is appropriate of if something wider would have better performance is one of your main product design jobs.

Why do you ship only to the US? The US has only export restrictions with thermal cameras that have a high frame rate, I think >12 fps, but not 100% sure.
In questions of science, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.

Thanks for your interest. There is an export control for the infrared camera with frame rate above 9Hz (9fps). It will be a long process to obtain the export license...
