Creating patterns
« on: March 01, 2014, 12:23:41 am »
I am trying to create patterns to aid me in making front and back panels out of PCBs. A pattern will be a shape where the copper will remain on the board. For example I might want a frame type of pattern, a rectangle with a square cutout in the middle. Or some other shape. The way to do that would be to allow me to define the outer and inner outlines and fill in the rest with a copper pour. Of course I can do copper pours on the PCB but I want to do this in the Pattern Editor, so I can re-use the patterns easily.

Could you please suggest a way of doing that?

Thanks

I use a filled shape setting it as "signal". I guess there is no other way to make a pour  :-//

I have been making patterns like this:

1) use the top silk to draw the component's top view
2) use bottom mask to draw the bottom side
3) use top mask to draw any top side copper pattern, if any
4) use "black and white" only to print the patterns on the printer

What seems to be missing is an "area fill" where I could draw a complex shape and it would fill it for me. Currently I use simple cutouts, like rectangles and circles and use the line width property to set it right.
